Shanghai 2009: Fantasy Racers Update

It looks like I made the right decision to flood my teams with Sebastian Vettel for this race, the young German bringing in a bounty of points with his win in Shanghai. Also swapping Giancarlo Fisichella for Adrian Sutil was a good move, as not only was the German cheaper, but also did much better in the saturated Chinese Grand Prix. Never have any of my teams done so well so far in the Fantasy Racers league, but I’m pretty sure it is entirely down to fluke rather than skill or judgment!

BlogF1 Racing made the most points again, collecting 645 thanks to Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg and the substituted Adrian Sutil. Also doing well and scoring in the 600s were Blogger’s Dog Racing and Inner Pickle Racing, making 615 and 614 points respectively. BDR had Kubica shipped out in favour of Vettel, and Alonso was replaced with Fisichella. IPR had Raikkonen replaced with Vettel with the kind of ruthlessness only a true team manager knows about!

This fine result promotes BlogF1 Racing to 1152nd in the overall league, and 162nd in the Sidepodcast private league. A substantial improvement on the post-Malaysian positions of 1488th overall and 186th in the SPC campaign.

Fantasy Racers is a fantasy Formula One competition. It is free to sign up but if you wish to have more than team you will need to make a donation to the site. You can also join private leagues, and currently BlogF1’s set of squads race in the Sidepodcast League.

  • I was thinking, instead of a Finitalia team, why didn’t you have an all-German team? I started Fantasy Racers after I read these articles and I have one team, Gui Germany, that collected 521 points this race.

I also have a Sebastian/en team that picked up 618 points, on my first try, too!

I have enjoyed playing Fantasy Racers and I have to thank you for bringing it into my attention. Great blog, also!
