Not only is it round seven of the Formula One World championship, but it is also round seven of the Fantasy Racers competition. Prior to Monaco I made some changes to a couple of the teams, and although things didn’t drastically improve, Inner Pickle Racing managed to scoop up a massive 753 points. Of course, it didn’t last and following the Turkish Grand Prix, the teams are back down to where they usually finish, collecting around the 400-600 points mark.

Looking at the table we can see the BF1R claimed another 636 points, keeping the consistency going. In fact, the average haul per race so far in 2009 has been 611. Jenson Button brought the lion’s share of points, and Rubens Barrichello disappointed with only receiving 49 following his retirement.
The Finns and the Italians didn’t do particularly well in Istanbul, Jarno Trulli picking up the most points but only adding to a total of 330. Also slipping are PETN, who only managed a measly 498 points. Blogger’s Dog Racing maintained their average as well, collecting 529 and sticking closely to their season average of 503.
Inner Pickle Racing had been steadily improving as the season progressed, but clearly the climax was Monaco and now the squad have slipped from 1438th overall to 1484th overall. They currently sit behind BF1R in the league who are 1064th themselves. In the Sidepodcast League, BF1R managed to get in to 151st and IPR have improved to 198th. BDR currently sit in 300th while PETN are 316th. Sidepodcast co-host Mr. C is languishing down in 325th with his Longitudinal Inertia team.
Fantasy Racers is a fantasy Formula One competition. It is free to sign up but if you wish to have more than team you will need to make a donation to the site. You can also join private leagues, and currently BlogF1’s set of squads race in the Sidepodcast League.
I think my teams had their worst performance since Malaysia, but I left my notes on the other computer so can’t check…
My best team was LCM Aléman, probably because Rosberg, Glock and Vettel all got decent results. Still, a result of 576 is not where I expect my highest performance to be.
LCM Caro was the second-best team (484 points) despite having only two drivers and one of them finishing 13th!
LCM Dragons slumped to an unusally low third (476 points), possibly because its best driver after Button was Nakajima, who finished 12th.
LCM Barato did badly, scoring 446 points. Several drivers scored in the 60s, but only Kubica exceeded the 100 mark.
LCM Fire Lizard’s score was a lamentable 432 points. This was not helped by having one retiree and the 14th- and 17th-placed finishers on a five-driver team with a tiny amount of change.
I have 14 teams in total now.
Here are their scores from highest to lowest.
619, 595, 544, 543, 532,
Sorry, continuation –
619, 595, 544, 543, 532, 504, 468, 459, 441, 438, 421, 417, 404, 341
The team that scored 595 is the first of two BF1R imitation teams, with your drivers but missing Barrichello. Seeing as he performed poorly, it was not a major loss.
Ironically, the team that scored 544 points is the team I designed to score as low as possible while taking up a full budget. Guess I just don’t have it in me!
341 was my Brazilian team – at least it’s higher than Finitalia!
HEY! I saw something that nearly made my eyes jump out of their sockets!
My best team (the one that scored 619) was the 11th biggest climber!!! It’s the See and Do team.
That’s still pretty good going. 🙂
What!? 😀
Yeah yeah. 😀
Hehe, I tried that with Blogger’s Dog Racing – I picked all the cheapest drivers, but then managed to squeeze Glock in with the remaining budget. And interestingly, they beat PETN who have Button and Webber.
Nice one.
You forgot something –
Blogger’s Dog Racing have moved ahead of Mr. C’s Longintudinal Inertia squad! [insert smile].
Also, for my “bad” team, I tried to get expensive drivers who underperformed. It didn’t work at all, and it was my third highest scorer.
