Monza 2009: Race Result

Heikki Kovalainen is on the fuel-adjusted pole position just ahead of Rubens Barrichello, but on the actual pole position sits Heikki’s team mate Lewis Hamilton. Adrian Sutil sits alongside the leading McLaren in his best ever qualifying performance, and all talk is of strategies. A one-stopper is about 5 seconds quicker, but the leading three are on two-stoppers. KERS will also play a part in the race and in particular, the opening lap and the run down to the first corner.

  • Rough day for Webber and Hamilton, at opposite ends of the spectrum. Not a bad deal for Fisi on his debut though. And Sutil finally breaks into the points column- very nice day for some, less enthusiastic for others.

  • Nice to see the mutual respect between Rubens and Jensen, I wonder how it will change over the next four races? Seems like the Brawns are back on track and Vettle raced rather defensively with little result. The Ferrari had more potential than what Fisi got out of it.

Was the Force India mechanic who fell and broke the mirror of injured? Looked like he was hit in the legs.Love the track and the Italian fans. Tifosi show how it should be done.

  • When your championship rivals collect nine and seven points more than you in the closing few rounds of a season I would call that as “having little result”. Vettle has to almost win out and both of the Brawn cars have to collect some DNF’s if he has a chance to win the drivers title this year. The title is Jensens as long as he finishes next to Rubens.

  • I thought Sebastian Vettel was 8th in a Red Bull…

Whoops. I obviously decided that there was a German driver called Scuderia Toro Rosso. 🙂

The title is Jensens as long as he finishes next to Rubens.

I’d have to agree – it’s his to lose.
