Caption Contest: #72

The seventy-second photograph to feature in BlogF1’s caption contest. You know the drill, think of something funny and witty to say and leave it as a comment below. Fernando Alonso recently returned to his native Spain after the 2008 season closed, and here the double world champion is helping out the Spanish arm of the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF as part of a campaign organised by Renault sponsor ING.

  • Everyone sing along… The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round, all day long.

The KERS system collects kinetic energy, kinetic energy, kinetic energy, the KERS system collects the kinetic energy, all day long.

  • I thought when I saw Lewis flying in that theatre show that leaving McLaren at least meant I didn’t have to look stupid in any PR stunt

  • And here I was upset about having my Mercedes SLK taken off me, and having to drive the Renault Megane again. Shouldn’t have complained about that !

  • In order for other teams not to back-out F1, new car regulations were given out this year to cut down the cost…

Its a given that Fernado Alonso knows how to win Grand Prix’s in dicey equipment. But the two time champion will face the challenge of his life driving the newly anounced UN sponsored R29 in the 2009 F1 season. “We are confident that our ratical design will give us results”, said Team boss Flabio Briatori. Well, one thing is for sure, it will be historic and fun to watch….

  • @carldec: Hehe, dicey equipment indeed!

No, I’m not trying to compete with the onion – do they do a caption contest as well?

Thanks for the vote, and I know about SXSW (or at least, all the after-show parties), just not sure if BlogF1 is really up to that standard yet. But thanks for the vote of confidence, it all helps. 🙂

Edit: I completely got the wrong end of the stick with carldec’s comment above and thought there was a weird bug with the website and edited it. After emailing carldec I now realise my error and have reinstated the original comment and added some formatting at carldec’s suggestion. 🙂

  • After Lewis Hamilton passed Alsonso when the lights were flashing, the stewards were perplexed. “I can’t find anything in the rules about not passing school buses if they lights are flashing,” said the head steward. The Renault team was unmoved, and was claiming that Lewis should lose three grid spots in the next race. Insiders say that had the bus been run by Scuderia, painted red and driven by Massa, the stewards would have ruled in Ferrari’s favour.
