Honda Confirm Button & Barrichello For 2008

Honda F1 have today announced a continued driver line-up for next season, retaining both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. Jenson will start his sixth campaign for the Japanese team next year, while Rubens will be on this third. The news came at the Nurburgring circuit where the teams are preparing for this weekends European Grand Prix.

Depsite experiencing a torrid year so far, Jenson is optimistic about the future and believes the squad can turn their dispointing performance around in 2008.

Although we are still very firmly focused on the current season, I am excited about the opportunity that we have for 2008. It goes without saying that 2007 has been extremely frustrating but over the past few races we have gradually started to see some improvement. Jenson Button.

Barrichello echoed his team mates thoughts with an equally buoyant prediction of Honda’s future.

2007 has been tough so far but I believe we are heading in the right direction again. In addition to the great team we have already, there are some good new people coming on board and I have confidence that we will make progress now. Rubens Barrichello.

The news that Barrichello is competing in another season means that the Brazilian driver should surpass Riccardo Patrese’s record of most races contested. Riccardo set a record of 256 starts that has remained unbroken since 1993. With Rubens currently on 241 races, he is the most exerienced driver on the grid and will son add his name to the history books with this record.
