The second day of testing at Silverstone saw Jarno Trulli put the Toyota on top, mimicking Ralf Schumacher’s pace yesterday and turning heads up and down the pitlane. The Italian driver went 0.1s faster than Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari, and 0.5s faster than third placed driver Alexander Wurz. Raikkonen maintained the lead for most of the morning, but Trulli managed to hook a decent lap together towards the end.
In general it was a positive day even though it’s difficult to judge comparative performance because it’s always very windy here. The morning went pretty well for us testing set-up and tyres and I felt pretty comfortable with the car. Jarno Trulli.
Mark Webber had a less productive day today, stopping out on track more than once with oil leaking from his RBR3, and causing red flags. In total, the marshals had to stop running six times. Although Wurz managed to post the third quickest time, he too stopped on track with a hydraulic problem. Pedro De La Rosa copied Webber and stopped with an oil leak, and Adrian Sutil caused a red flag just prior to lunchtime.
Timo Glock covered the most laps (82) while pounding the circuit in his BMW, but as the intermittent rain showers got heavier in the afternoon, some teams stopped a little early while others chose to test with wet-weather boots on. Honda and Super Aguri continue to test at the Jerez circuit in Spanish sunnier climes.
