Your Favourite Race So Far…

Eleven races into the 2007 Formula One World Championship, and we’ve seen some superb driving, overtaking, stints and flourishes as the 22 drivers vie for victory. Aside from the Hungarian Grand Prix (the result of which I do not know at the time of writing this), we have only seen four winners, but I think it is fair to say the level of performances this year has been pretty high. Lewis Hamilton has become an expert at starting, Fernando Alonso still has his daredevil overtaking streak, and Kimi Raikkonen can still put in some awesome laptimes when he needs to. And of course, it is always a pleasure to see Felipe Massa jumping around the podium – I don’t think anyone has ever looked happier to win a race.

So which Grand Prix has been your favourite so far? Kimi’s charge at the beginning of the season? Hamilton’s maiden victory in Canada? Alonso’s charge around the Nurburgring, or even Super Aguri’s first point in Spain? McLaren’s Monaco 1-2, or Massa’s broad smile on the Bahrain podium? Here are a the race reports so far if your memory needs jogging:

  • I vote for the European Grnad Prix. The rains made all the difference. First there was Hamilton’s tyre burst and crash which sent him way down, then there was the incessant rain. The most funniest part where 6 or 7 cars lines up along the walls including hamilton. And of course the overtaking of Massa by Hamilton. By far one of the more enjoyable ones.

  • As a whole weekend, Hungary certainly had plenty of drama, but a pretty boring race so I would agree with Ram and go for the European GP.

Hamilton’s off in qualifying, then the total confusion due to the rain in the race made it excellent viewing!

  • We still only have four winners this year – but I’d vote for Europe as well. As soon as the heavens opened, you just knew it was going to be a winner, and it certainly was.

  • Interesting times those you chose take a vacation…I guess everybody deserves a vacation…

Would be nice to read your comments about the Hungarian GP Q3 session: Alonso’s little mishap with Lewis – which interestingly enough Ron ended up blaming on Lewis – go figure…

Many rumors have been circulating in internet sites about FA’s wish to leave McLaren at the end of year and, complementary, Ron’s opinion on “everybody is free to leave as they wish”…which, if true, sounds more like: “Fernando, you can go to hell – Lewis rocks!”.

A possible change to Renault, BMW, and even Toyota has been speculated about…

Oh yeah, that’s right…my favorite race….mmm…well, the European GP at the Nurburgring has to be the one to beat due to the myriad of events that took place (kind of like the Hungarian GP last year)…

    Good stuff this season…good stuff…

  • I don’t care, I love Monaco. It was a race where the only one to suffer through someone else’s mistake or naughtiness was Anthony Davidson – all the rest stood or fell on their own merits. Watching Alonso and Hamilton throw that McLaren through the tight corners of Monaco was fascinating – we saw both of them at their best there.

And it was the race in which Scott Speed set the benchmark for Vettel to aim at. Okay, Sebastian, let’s see you get a ninth in the STR before the end of this season and then we’ll see whether Mr Tost was talking through his backside when he blamed Scott’s performance for his dismissal.
