On the eve of Ferrari and Shell’s 450th grand prix weekend together, the fuel and lubricant supplier to Formula One’s oldest team has announced an extension to it’s already long-running partnership. The extra five years added to the contract means Shell will continue supplying fuel, oil and lubricants to Ferrari until the end of 2015.
The extension of our relationship with Shell up to the end of 2015 is yet another step in the Scuderia’s plan to strengthen its long term future and is also a clear sign of continuity and the confidence placed in Ferrari by a company that is a world leader in its field.
Shell has been with the Scuderia from the year it was established in 1929 and has played a significant role in many of our successes.
Striving for excellence, a passion for competition, team work, technology transfer from track to street: these are the values we share with Shell and which characterise what is a unique partnership in the history of motor sport. Stefano Domenicali.
Shell have not always been Ferrari’s fuel supplier, and for a long time the team used Italian company Agip, from the mid-’70s up until when Michael Schumacher joined in 1996. However, Shell have been working with Ferrari since Enzo Ferrari opened shop and although not continuous, their relationship is certainly one of the longest in the sport.
