Monaco 2008: Friday Afternoon Practice

Monaco 2008: Friday Afternoon Practice

Lewis Hamilton has jumped to the top of the timing sheet in the afternoon practice session, leading Nico Rosberg who has put in two stellar performances today in his Williams FW30. The margin at the top increased with the Ferraris having to settle for third and fourth for Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa respectively. Both Renaults suffered after lunch with Nelson Piquet Jr and Fernando Alonso damaging their R28 chassis. Piquet was the first of the Renaults to clout the barriers at Ste Devote, spinning around and damaging his rear wing. A few minutes later, Alonso followed suit getting his R28 tail-happy and tagging the armco with his left-rear corner.

Giancarlo Fisichella fell back on his morning’s tenth place, finishing the day in sixteenth but ahead of Jarno Trulli who had another accident to add to his morning damage. Trulli came off the kerbs poorly at the Swimming Pool and scraped the wall, further decreasing his track time. Adrian Sutil completed the round-up of drivers struggling after the German exited Rascasse sans-front wing.

Honda looked to be improving with Jenson Button ending his day in eighth and Rubens Barrichello finished in tenth. The Red Bulls though don’t appear to be shining as well, with David Coulthard finally getting out on track following his morning throttle issue, only to go fourteenth fastest, one place behind his team mate.

  • Thanks themark. I realised as soon I posted this, the second of the “Friday Practice” posts and added a note to the bottom of each, just below the results table. Monaco messes with my mind each year – I spent all day jumping around work because I thought it was Friday!
